The program is designed for high school students completing grades 9 through 12, with a serious interest in theater arts, and who seek to discipline and training required for participation in a university theater program or a career in performing arts. The program includes three modules: acting fundamentals, theater production and production practice in theater and film. Classes will take place at the student theater and specialized theater laboratories located at the main campus of the university in the historic center of St. Petersburg. Classes and workshops will include actor’s gang workshop, combat and fencing class, tech/design workshop, special effects and makeup. Each morning begins with special exercises followed by core classes. Afternoons and evening include theater acting ensemble classes, special classes and rehearsals for the performance project. Special classes will include guest workshops and panels. Students are involved in all aspects of the creative process – conceptualizing, writing and transforming ideas into dramatic action. The performance project results in a final showcase production by the students.
