Baltic Summer Intensive Art Studies Programs – St. Petersburg
Baltic Summer Intensive Art Studies in St. Petersburg, Russia is an exceptional academic art and design program enriched by the vast resources of the most beautiful city in Europe – St. Petersburg. This program is well fitted for high school students preparing to apply for a college program, college student interested in enriching and enhancing their own academic program and possibly earning transfer credits.
The program includes intensive one-week or two-week courses (equivalent to two to five-credit program) and is open to anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of art and design in an academically rigorous and artistically stimulating environment. Students spend six days a week in studio classes, theater laboratories and receive demanding homework assignments. Courses are supplemented by special events, including specialized classes in the best art museums in the world, including the Hermitage, the Russian museum, the Russian Museum of Ethnography, world famous palaces and gardens in Pushkin and Pavlovsk, portfolio reviews, industry guest lecturers. This program is designed to prepare students for admission to college, direct them toward relevant career paths and to develop their artistic and creative potentials.
Exploring St. Petersburg
Activities scheduled outside of classes provide opportunities for students to become acquainted with one another. Students are encouraged to take full advantage of the vast cultural, artistic and historic resources of St. Petersburg, home to some of the world's most important museums, theaters, galleries, libraries, parks and palaces.
Housing
Summer Intensive Art Studies students are provided housing options including university residence hall or student hostels near the campus (3-4 persons per room). Cost of housing is approximately US$75 for a 1-week program (7 nights) and US$150 for a 2-week program (14 nights)
Professional Faculty
Summer Intensive Art Studies courses are taught by an outstanding faculty that includes famous St. Petersburg artists, designers, actors.
Meals
Students are provided with breakfast and lunch at the Student Cafeteria. US$35 for a 1-week program (7 days) and US$70 for a 2-week program (14 days).
Campus and Classroom
Classes are held on campus in the historic center of St. Petersburg, near Smolny Cathedral and Saint Alexander Nevsky Monastery as well as in most beautiful, world-renowned museums, parks, squares & art studios of our amazing city.
Supplies
Students must provide their own art supplies. A list of required and recommended supplies is specified for each course. The cost for most studio courses is estimated at US$30 to US$65. Lockers are provided for storage during the program.

Schedule
Attendance and Workload
Students attend classes Monday through Saturday for six to eight hours a day. Breakfast is provided at the student cafe from 9:00 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. Classes run from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break. Attendance is mandatory. Students who miss more than two class sessions (each day consists of one morning and one afternoon session) will fail the course.
Out-of-class work, which is assigned daily, is a substantial part of the program. Students who do not meet course expectations may be asked to leave the program.
